A: To disconnect the fuel tank, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and removing the fuel tank filler cap to relieve pressure. Then, relieve the fuel system pressure and use a siphoning kit or hose to remove as much gasoline as possible from the tank. Next, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Disconnect the filler and vent hoses, fuel hose(s), EVAP hoses, and fuel pump module electrical connector. Remove the left underbody side rail and support the fuel tank with two floor jacks. Remove the bolts from the fuel tank straps and slowly lower the tank from under the vehicle. To install, reverse the removal steps and tighten the fuel tank strap bolts securely. Finally, reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, start the engine, and check for any fuel leaks.
