GMC Acadia Drive Shaft Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove the driveshaft?
A: To remove the driveshaft, start by raising the rear of the vehicle and supporting it securely on jackstands. Block the front wheels to prevent rolling and place the shift selector lever in Neutral. Use chalk or a scribe to index the relationship of the driveshaft to the differential pinion yoke and the flange at the transfer case. Disconnect the rear of the driveshaft from the torque tube flange and support the rear of the driveshaft. Remove the front Constant Velocity (CV) joint bolts and washers from the transfer case and support the front of the driveshaft. Remove the mounting bolts from the center support bearing and finally remove the driveshaft from the vehicle. To install the driveshaft, follow the reverse steps of removal, ensuring that the marks made previously are aligned. Tighten the fasteners to the specified torque specifications.
