About GM Radiator Hose
Essentially a heater hose, the GM radiator hose is intended to allow the flow of coolant to go from the radiator to the engine and back to keep it at the proper operating temperature. Your typical hose goes from the radiator and extends all the way to where it is attached to the engine block, and is clamped tight so that your coolant can flow through it under a bit of pressure. All radiator hoses are now made with a rubber like material that resists extreme heat, and it is lined with fiber for extreme longevity and durability.
As long as it is working to its potential, your coolant will not leak anywhere from the hose itself. Your hose will be attached to the top or bottom of the radiator in the front of your GM vehicle. To change out an old failed hose first drain the coolant to a low enough level, or all the way depending on which hose is being replaced. Next you will loosen and move its holding clamp out of the way, so you can gently pry off and remove the old radiator hose. Be proactive and make sure to check your radiator hoses every six months for any signs of cracking or brittleness.
