Q: How to replace the air filter element in a black plastic box mounted on the left side of the engine compartment?
A: At the specified intervals, the air filter element should be replaced with a new one. The air filter is housed in a black plastic box mounted on the left side of the engine compartment. Detach the PCV quick-disconnect fitting, if equipped. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Mass Air Flow/Intake Air Temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor. Detach the windshield washer hose from the filter housing cover. Loosen the hose clamp and detach the intake duct, then remove the filter housing cover screws. Remove the cover screws (six total). Pull up the housing cover, then lift the air filter element out of the housing. Lift up the cover and remove the filter element. Wipe out the inside of the air filter housing with a clean rag. Installation is the reverse of removal.
