Chevrolet Tracker Trailing Arm

The Trailing Arm in Chevrolet Tracker cars is a component of trailing-link suspension system, which is used for connection between the axle and the car body. Its main purpose is to reduce unwanted movement of the axles so as to improve on the maneuverability of the vehicle. The Chevrolet Tracker also has a trailing-arm suspension system, also known as two or three link suspension, with the panhard rod allow for lateral wheel location. Other types have over the years included the semi trailing arm suspension in the Chevrolet Tracker for instance. This one incorporates an arm in the shape of a triangle that rotates at two positions in order to provide improved movement of the rear wheels, in the manner that they are separate from the rest of the frame. It may be attributed to the Trailing Arm systems that adds up to increased cargo space and flat floor creation making Chevrolet tracker even better for small FWD's.

Chevrolet Tracker Trailing Arm Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you properly remove and reinstall the Trailing Arm and lateral rods on Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel(s) and place a floor jack under the rear axle to support it when the trailing rod(s) and lateral rod are removed. Remove the lower rod rear attaching nut and bolt from the axle bracket, then unbolt the parking brake cable guide and the lower trailing rod-to-axle nut and bolt. Remove the front attaching bolt and nut to take the lower rod out of the vehicle. Detach the lateral rod from the axle and frame brackets by removing the retaining bolts. Place the trailing rod(s) and the lateral rod in their mounting brackets and install the bolts and nuts without tightening them yet. Install the parking brake cable guide on the trailing rod, then remove the floor jack supporting the rear axle. Install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. With the vehicle off the jackstands and in a non-loaded condition, tighten the trailing rod front and rear bolts and nuts along with the lateral rod bolts to the specified torque.
