How do you remove the alternator?

Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. If necessary, clearly label, then unplug and unbolt the electrical connectors from the alternator. Remove the serpentine drive belt. On 4.3L V6 engines, remove the heater hose bracket from the rear of the alternator. Remove the alternator mounting bolts and remove the alternator. Installation is the reverse of removal.
