A: To remove the fuel tank, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the fuel tank shield and, if necessary, the exhaust system underneath the fuel tank. Disconnect the fuel tank filler hose, EVAP canister filter line, vent line, fuel feed line quick-connect fitting, and EVAP canister purge line quick-connect fitting. On certain models, disconnect the fuel pressure sensor connector and remove the fasteners from the front of the right-rear inner fender splash shield. Support the fuel tank with a floor jack and remove the longitudinal straps that support the tank. Finally, lower the tank and remove it from the vehicle, keeping the EVAP canister connected. For installation, simply reverse the removal steps and check for leaks afterwards.
