Chevrolet HHR Steering Column

Chevrolet HHR Steering Column is an important part of the car to control the direction and maneuverability of the car safely. It assists in transferring the angle and torque steering from the steering wheel to the steering gear for a quicker response. However, the 'steering column' in a car design apart from allowing the car to be steered also plays other critical rolls such as supplementary energy absorber in case of impact, housing, and adjustment for the driver. This kind of steering column is more friendly to the drivers since in cases of an accident the collapsible feature will first absorb energy. Due to federal requirements requiring manufactures to incorporate effective anti theft and safety measures in automobiles, the Chevrolet HHR Steering Column is very important in offering security.

Each OEM Chevrolet HHR Steering Column we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet HHR Steering Column Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove the steering column on Chevrolet HHR?
A: To remove the steering column, start by parking the vehicle with the wheels straight ahead and disconnecting the battery's negative terminal. Disable the airbag system and then remove the Steering Wheel and steering column covers. Next, remove the clockspring/multi-function switch assembly and the knee bolster. Disconnect the electrical connector for the shift interlock solenoid from the ignition lock cylinder and the electrical connectors from the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) unit. Mark the relationship of the steering column shaft to the intermediate shaft and remove the pinch bolt. Disconnect any other electrical connectors that may interfere with removal. Finally, remove the steering column mounting fasteners and guide the column out from the instrument panel. To install the steering column, guide it back into position, aligning the steering shaft with the intermediate shaft using the marked relationship. Install the mounting fasteners and tighten them to the proper torque specifications. Install the pinch bolt and tighten it to the proper torque specifications. The remaining steps of the installation are the reverse of the removal procedure.
