A: To remove the accumulator in a refrigeration system, start by discharging and recovering the refrigerant. Then, remove the Coolant Reservoir and battery. Disconnect the refrigerant inlet and outlet lines, making sure to cap or plug them immediately to prevent dirt or moisture from entering. Disconnect the electrical connector from the pressure cycling switch. Loosen the mounting bolt(s) on the bracket and remove the accumulator. If replacing with a new one, add one ounce of fresh refrigerant oil. For installation, reverse the removal steps and use new O-rings coated with clean refrigerant oil when installing the refrigerant lines. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested.
