Q: How do I remove and install a bumper cover on a Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain?
A: Apply the parking brake, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the front air dam mounting fasteners, then remove it (if equipped). Remove the front inner fender splash shields from the bumper cover. Move the shields aside or remove them completely. Disconnect the fog lights (if so equipped). Remove the screws joining the bumper cover and the lower front part of each fender. On 2013 and later models, working in the engine compartment, remove the four plastic push-pin retainers and covers above the headlight housings. Remove the fasteners from the top and the bottom of the bumper cover. Carefully pull the bumper cover away from the front and sides of the vehicle and remove it completely. Installation is the reverse of removal. An assistant is helpful at this point. Remove the inner fender splash shield fasteners that attach to the bumper cover. Open the liftgate, pry off the bolt covers from the top of the bumper cover, then remove the bolts. Remove the screws joining the bumper cover and the lower part of each fender. Detach the fasteners securing the bottom of the bumper cover. Disconnect any electrical connectors, if necessary. Pull the bumper cover out and away from the vehicle while disengaging the existing tabs. Installation is the reverse of removal.
