Q: How do you remove and replace the antenna on Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain?
A: For models up to 2009 use a small open-ended spanner to unscrew the antenna mast carefully so as not to damage the body; masking tape around its base can help prevent scratches. If the cable/antenna needs replacing, remove the glove compartment and take off the lower rear part of inner fender liner. From under far right end of instrument panel, separate radio cable from mast-cable connector. At this point, put a fish-wire within grommet and onto end of cable such that both can now be passed through hole in cowl into fender opening. Unscrew antenna mast base mounting nut and remove base with cable attached. Connect new cord to fish wire then pull wire slowly back into vehicle body being careful not to route differently from original one as it was .To replace extension cable, take out glove compartment plus passenger airbag module.Remove the clip holding the wires at the top of dash board panel then detach this link from either radio or antenna base Installation is just reverse of removal. For models 2010 and after this date, lift gate opening trim panel is removed by unplugging negative battery terminal.Disengage headliner edge enough for accessing bolt holding antenna's base after gently pulling down.Pull out electrical connector on roof top which connects to antennae installation is opposite of removal process.Twist mast counterclockwise until it can come out from its holder.Installation is just reverse of removal.
