Chevrolet Corvette Headlight Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you replace the headlamp assembly on Chevrolet Corvette?
A: For 2001 and earlier models, start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal, then open the hood and remove the protective cap from the headlamp motor manual knob, turning it counterclockwise to raise the headlamp fully. Disconnect the electrical connector under the headlamp assembly, remove the headlamp bezel by unscrewing and gently pulling it forward, and take out the lower front fascia closeout panel and brake caliper cooling duct. For the right headlamp assembly, disconnect the HDM connector, support the assembly, and remove the three nuts and two bolts securing it before carefully removing the assembly, with installation being the reverse of removal. For 2002-2004 models, remove the #54 MAXI fuse from the instrument panel fuse box, disconnect the electrical connection to the headlamp assembly, and turn the headlamp motor knob counterclockwise to raise the headlamp. Pull the headlamp bezel out toward the front, remove the left side lower fascia closeout panel and brake rotor duct, disconnect the HDM unit on the right side, and remove the headlamp assembly bracket to frame rail bolts before carefully lifting the assembly from the vehicle, with installation being the reverse of removal. For 2005-2008 models, remove the front fascia and the six screws securing the fender to the body without removing the fender itself. Remove the three screws securing the headlamp assembly to the body, gently lift the front edge of the fender to clear the headlamp housing, and then remove the headlamp housing, with installation being the reverse of removal. For 2009 and later models, loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and remove the wheel. Remove the six screws securing the headlamp access panel to the body, then remove the bolts securing the headlamp assembly to the vehicle, lifting the assembly out through the top with assistance, and installation is the reverse of removal.
