This is because items such as valves or doors for controlling the flow and circulation of the coolant through the core are used to regulate for temperature control. also, in air-conditioned vehicle, the heater core plays an important role in dehumidifying the conditioned air through reheating. Although with problems such as clogging of the system and leakage, the heater core is significant for regulating the climate inside the car.

Chevrolet Colorado Heater Core Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove a Heater Core?
A: To remove the air conditioning system, start by having it discharged by a dealership service department or an automotive air conditioning facility. Disconnect the cable at the negative terminal of the battery and drain the cooling system. Remove the heater hoses and air conditioning lines from the fittings at the firewall, plugging the lines to prevent coolant spillage. Remove the instrument panel assembly and pull back the carpeting to remove the rear floor duct. Remove the instrument panel carrier and the nuts securing the HVAC module to the firewall. Withdraw the unit and remove the screw and clamp securing the heater core pipes. Carefully pull out the heater core. For installation, reverse the removal steps and ensure any original insulating/sealing materials are in place around the heater core pipes and core. Refill the cooling system and have the air conditioning system charged by the shop that discharged it. Start the engine and check for proper operation.
