Chevrolet Colorado Brake Shoe

The Brake Shoe in Chevrolet COLORADO cars spin to create a friction that ultimately halts the motion of a car. These shoes are attached to the drum brake assembly and are fastened to a backing plate and disarmed by hydraulic wheel cylinders. The friction linings come in contact with the brake drum when the brakes are on as they offer the force of friction to stop. Colorado vehicles may have non-servo or duo-servo brake shoes with self-adjuster which automatically adjust themselves for wear. Thus, though drum brakes lack the fade resistance of the disc brakes, they give satisfactory service and also have uncomplicated parking brake arrangement. In order to guarantee the efficiency and to avoid accidents, the brake shoes must be inspected and maintained frequently.

Each OEM Chevrolet Colorado Brake Shoe we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Colorado Brake Shoe Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to inspect and replace rubber brake hoses?
A: To remove the rear drum brake assembly, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the rear of the vehicle, supporting it securely on jackstands. Release the parking brake and remove the wheel. Then, remove the adjuster lever spring and the brake adjuster lever and screw assembly. Use locking pliers to lift the end of the shoe hold-down spring and remove the trailing shoe. Unhook the lower return spring and remove it. Depress the shoe retainer and turn 90 degrees to remove it, along with the hold-down spring. Repeat this step for the other shoe retainer and remove the leading shoe from the backing plate. Lower the shoe and lever away from the backing plate, and lift the hold-down spring to remove the trailing shoe. Finally, remove the shoe retractor spring and twist off the parking brake lever from the cable end. For installation, clean the backing plate and lubricate the shoe contact points. Secure the center of the hairpin spring in its clip on the backing plate using a socket extension and hammer. Install the new leading brake shoe and engage the shoe retractor spring with the hole in each shoe. Reconnect the parking brake cable end to the lever and install the new trailing shoe/lever. Clean and lubricate the threads of the adjuster and reinstall it between the shoes. Secure the brake shoes with the hold-down springs/retainers and install the lower return spring. Install the adjuster lever and spring, then adjust the shoes by holding the lever up while turning the star wheel. Install the brake drum, pump the brake pedal, and adjust the shoes until they stop rubbing. Finally, install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts. Make several stops and operate the parking brake to adjust the brakes before driving the vehicle.
