Chevrolet Colorado Automatic Transmission Filter

Automatic Transmission Filter is one of the most important components of the Chevrolet Colorado automobiles since it contributes to the overall efficiency of the transmission system. It is mainly to filter dirt and contaminants in the Transmission Fluid to avoid obstructing small channels with such unwanted material and thus hamper movement of certain parts. This filtration is critical to maintenance of smooth running transmission function and long life Span. Chevrolet Colorado for instance has used many Automatic Transmission Filters such as internal or internal filters behind removable fluid pan and those that are external and are called spin on or cartridge filters. Some filters are conveniently designed in a way that they can be easily changed while others would need extensive disassembly and thus manufacturers simply state that their filters are 'lifetime' filters. Further, inline Automatic Transmission Filters can also be added to improve filtration while at the same time keeping the flow rate as high as possible to give the premier results.

Each OEM Chevrolet Colorado Automatic Transmission Filter we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Colorado Automatic Transmission Filter Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How should the transmission fluid and Transmission Filter be drained and replaced on Chevrolet Colorado?
A: At specified intervals, the transmission fluid should be drained and replaced, ensuring the engine has cooled down completely before starting. Purchase the required transmission fluid along with a new filter and pan gasket. Necessary tools include a floor jack, jackstands for vehicle support, a drain pan with at least an eight-quart capacity, newspapers, and clean rags. Raise the vehicle securely on jackstands and place the drain pan underneath the transmission pan. Loosen all pan bolts, remove all but the front bolts, and allow the fluid to drain into the pan before removing the final bolts. If there is no drain plug, remove all bolts except those in each corner, then slowly take out the front bolts to let fluid drain. After removing the transmission pan mounting bolts, carefully pry the pan loose with a screwdriver, noting that some fluid will remain. Clean the gasket surface of the transmission thoroughly to remove old gasket and sealant, and clean the pan with solvent, drying it with compressed air if available. If equipped, clean the magnet in the pan, as a small amount of metal debris is normal, but consult a dealer if there is considerable debris. Remove the filter from the valve body by pulling it straight down, taking care not to damage the aluminum gasket surface. Install a new seal and filter, ensuring the gasket surface on the transmission pan is clean before placing a new gasket on the pan. Position the pan against the transmission and install all bolts, tightening them gradually to the specified torque. Reinstall any components removed for access, lower the vehicle, and add approximately three quarts of the specified automatic transmission fluid through the filler tube. With the transmission in Park and the parking brake set, run the engine at a fast idle without racing it. Move the gear selector through each range and back to Park, then let the engine idle for a few minutes before checking the fluid level, adding fluid as necessary to reach the proper mark on the dipstick. Finally, check under the vehicle for leaks during the first few trips and verify the fluid level again when the transmission is hot.
