Chevrolet C1500 Voltage Regulator

The Voltage Regulator in Chevrolet C1500's is vital in regulating the voltage levels produced by the alternator to allow the battery and electrical system to be protected. The regulator works by comparing the battery voltage as well as the demand of the electrical system, to adjust the field current of the alternator rotor and the charging voltage is maintained at 13.5- 14.5 volts. The C1500 prior models had mechanical voltage regulators in which the later models moved to electronic solid state regulators as a mark of enhanced capacity and durability. These modern regulators can turn 'on' and 'off' much quicker than can mechanical types of regulators, and that delivers more detailed control over the charging system. Over the past few years, the internal regulators with the alternator connected to the PCM in Chevrolet C1500 have been used in vehicles as the enhanced efficiency and functionality are offered.

Each OEM Chevrolet C1500 Voltage Regulator we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet C1500 Voltage Regulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace Alternator Brush and Voltage Regulator on Chevrolet C1500?
A: The procedure for replacing parts in early-model SI type Alternators is as follows, First, remove the alternator from the vehicle. Then, scribe or paint marks on the front and rear end frame housings to aid in reassembly. Next, remove the four through-bolts holding the end frames together and separate them. Remove the bolts holding the stator to the rear end frame and detach the stator. Remove the nuts attaching the diode trio to the rectifier bridge and remove the trio. Remove the screws attaching the resistor, Voltage Regulator, and brush holder to the end frame, and detach the brush holder. Remove the brushes from the brush holder by slipping off the brush retainer and remove the springs. To reinstall, start by installing the brushes in the brush holder, starting with the brush closest to the end frame. Use a paper clip to hold the brushes in place while completing reassembly. The paper clip should not be removed until the end frames are bolted together.
