A: To release the parking brake, remove the front cable by detaching the adjusting nut from the equalizer. The front and rear cables connect near the equalizer assembly. Slide the cable's ball out of the clevis on the brake pedal. For the rear cable(s), remove the adjusting nut, unhook the equalizer, compress the conduit fingers, and extract the cable. To remove rear brake drum(s), refer to the appropriate text. Disengage the rear cable from the brake shoe lever, compress the conduit fingers, and remove the cable from the brake backing plate. For reinstallation, reverse the steps and adjust the parking brake accordingly.
