Remove the mounting bolts and detach the starter, taking note of the locations of any spacer shims. Verify the battery is charged, and clean and secure all cables at the battery and Starter Solenoid terminals. If the starter motor spins but the engine doesn't crank, the overrunning clutch in the starter motor is slipping, necessitating replacement. If the starter motor doesn't operate but the solenoid clicks when the switch is actuated, check the battery, main solenoid contacts, starter motor, or if the engine is seized. To check the solenoid, connect a jumper lead between the battery (+) and the ignition switch wire terminal on the solenoid.
