The oiling system works by pumping the oil from the sump and then passing through a filter and cooler and the supply of the oil throughout the engine always at the required pressure for the good engine performance. High-performance Beretta engines might incorporate sophisticated oil systems like the dry-sump systems that have multiple pump servings the purpose of oil circulation and oil pressure for the durability and performance of the power unit in conjunction with regular servicing.

Chevrolet Beretta Oil Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an oil pump in 2.0L/2.2L four cylinder overhead valve engine?
A: Remove the Oil Pan. Place a large drain pan under the engine. Unbolt the pump from the rear main bearing cap. Lower the pump and extension shaft from the engine. Before installation, prime the pump with engine oil. Pour oil into the pick-up while the pump extension shaft is turned. Attach the pump, extension shaft and retainer to the main bearing cap. While aligning the pump with the dowel pins at the bottom of the main bearing cap, align the top end of the extension shaft with the lower end of the oil pump drive. When aligned properly, it should slip into place easily. Install the pump mounting bolt and tighten it. Install the oil pan and add oil.
  • Q: How to remove and inspect an oil pump in 2.3L four cylinder (Quad-4) engine?
A: Remove the Oil Pan. While supporting the oil pump, remove the mounting bolts. Lower the pump from the engine. Clean all parts thoroughly and remove the cover. Visually inspect all parts for wear, cracks and other damage. Check the oil pump drive gear and driven gear for wear and damage. Replace the pump if it's defective, if the engine has high mileage or if the engine is being rebuilt. Position the pump and shims on the engine and install the mounting bolts. Tighten them. Oil pump drive gear backlash must be checked whenever the oil pump, crankshaft or engine block is replaced. Mount a dial indicator on the engine with the indicator stem touching the oil pump driven gear. Check the backlash. Add or subtract shims to obtain the desired back-lash. Install the oil pan (and baffle, if removed). Add oil and run the engine. Check for oil pressure and leaks.
  • Q: How do you remove and replace an oil pump in V6 engine?
A: Remove the Oil Pan. Unbolt the oil pump and lower it from the engine. If the pump is defective, replace it with a new one-don't reuse the original or attempt to rebuild it. Prime the pump by pouring motor oil into the pick-up screen while turning the pump driveshaft. To install the pump, turn the hexagonal driveshaft so it mates with the oil pump drive. Install the pump mounting bolt and tighten it.
