Chevrolet Avalanche Ignition Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the key lock cylinder and ignition switch?
A: To remove the ignition lock cylinder, first disconnect the battery cable and remove the upper and lower steering column covers. Insert the ignition key and turn it to the START position, then depress the lock cylinder release tab and pull out the cylinder. Use a screwdriver to turn the lock cylinder gear clockwise to the START position and let it spring back to the RUN position. To remove the ignition switch, first remove the ignition lock cylinder and theft deterrent control module. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the module, key alarm buzzer, and ignition switch. When installing the switch, ensure the gears are positioned correctly to avoid alignment issues. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
