Chevrolet Avalanche A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an air conditioning condenser for Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL?
A: To remove the air conditioning condenser, the system must first be discharged. If working on a pickup model, the radiator support cover must be removed, and the radiator grille and air baffles must be taken out. The power steering fluid cooler, hood latch, hood latch support brace, and radiator support bracket must also be removed. The refrigerant lines must be disconnected from the condenser, and the condenser must be removed from the vehicle. The rubber insulator pads should be inspected and replaced if necessary. To install the condenser, the components must be reinstalled in reverse order, with the rubber pads in place. If using the original condenser, it should be stored with the line fillings on top, and if using a new condenser, one ounce of R-134a-compatible refrigerant oil should be poured into it prior to installation. Finally, the system must be evacuated, recharged, and leak tested.
