A: To remove the window regulator, start by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. Then, remove the door trim panel and water shield with the window glass in the full up position. Secure the window glass in place using strong adhesive tape. On early models, punch out the center pins of the rivets securing the window regulator and drill off the rivet heads. On later models, remove the bolts and nuts holding the regulator in place. Unplug the electrical connector and disengage the regulator from the door. Lift the regulator out of the door. If necessary, replace the window motor by removing the bolts securing it to the regulator frame and attaching the new motor with screws and nuts. To install the regulator, place it in position and engage it in the door. Secure it with new rivets and a riveting tool or with bolts and nuts. Install the window, plug in the electrical connector, and then reinstall the water shield and door trim panel. Finally, reconnect the negative battery cable.
