Cadillac DTS Ignition Switch

Cadillac DTS Ignition Switch is a critical component of the Cadillac ignition and charging system that is designed to make and break the circuit to start the motor and permit energizing different electric devices such as the car radio, and electric windows. This switch can be a key, button or a remote controller and informs the vehicle computer to order the starter solenoid and ignition components on. The keyless varieties, with push buttons, do not have a mechanical key and function with a transponder signal for security; Earlier Cadillac DTS models had mechanical keys too. Ignition switches have been previously designed as requiring linear movement accompanied by a specific key; new developments include immobilisers. Still, Cadillac DTS ignition switches are relatively easy to address, following the plug-and-play concept specific to the model.

Each OEM Cadillac DTS Ignition Switch we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Cadillac DTS Ignition Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the lock cylinder and ignition switch in Cadillac DeVille and DTS?
A: In early designs, the lock cylinder is located on the right-hand top of the steering column, and this means one has to first disconnect the negative battery cable, disable the airbag system, remove the steering wheel and Turn Signal Switch. The buzzer switch is pulled out using needle-nose pliers, while a lock cylinder retaining screw is removed. Pulling the lock cylinder straight out of the column also includes detaching PASS key wiring harness for those cars that have it. After placing a new Ignition Lock Cylinder into lock cylinder it must be in turn installed in column aligning tab with keyway and fastened by a retaining screw. PASS key system equipped models use wire terminals which are taped to mechanics wire about 18 inches long and pulled through steering column after routing and connection are checked. The remaining components are reinstalled as needed. About ignition switch, it is located at bottom part of steering column and can only be accessed by lowering column after disabling airbag system. Disconnect ignition switch harness connector and unscrew retaining screws in order to remove an ignition switch that connects with an Ignition Lock Cylinder using an actuating rod. Making sure that switch is in Lock position, attach electrical connector to new switch; connect actuating rod then push switch into position before securing it with screws followed by testing its operation. On later models such as DeVille or Seville, replacing a lock cylinder/ignition switch entails removing the steering column cover or other components necessary to reach release mechanisms, then maneuvering a lock cylinder into Start or Run positions so as to take it off. A replacement Ignition Lock Cylinder should be installed by aligning it with slot and locking tabs, making sure the key is present then clicking it into place.
