Cadillac DTS A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Condenser on Cadillac DTS?
A: To remove the air conditioning system, start by discharging it and disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. If necessary, remove the battery. Drain the cooling system and disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser, capping the open fittings to prevent dirt and moisture entry. Remove the radiator and then the condenser by removing the mounting bolts from the condenser brackets. If the original condenser will be reinstalled, store it with the line fittings on top to prevent oil from draining out. To install a new condenser, pour one ounce of refrigerant oil into it before installation. Reinstall all components in the reverse order of removal, ensuring rubber pads are in place under the condenser if applicable. Use new O-rings or flat sealing washers on the refrigerant lines, lubricating the O-rings with clean refrigerant oil. If using a flat sealing washer, ensure it is completely seated against the fitting surface without applying oil. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested.
