Q: How do I remove and install speakers in a Cadillac DeVille and DTS?
A: Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the radio bezel on early models or detach the instrument panel center bezel on later models. Remove the retaining screws and pull the radio outward to access the backside, then disconnect the electrical connectors and the antenna lead and lift the radio out of the instrument panel. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the front speakers, remove the front door trim panel. Remove the speaker retaining screws. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the speaker from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the rear speakers, remove the rear seat, then remove the package shelf. Remove the speaker retaining screws, leaving the plastic enclosure in place. On some models the speaker is held in place by clips instead of screws and on later models plastic retainers are used. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the speaker from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the front center speaker, remove the speaker grille by gently prying up around the edges. Remove the speaker screws and disconnect the electrical connector. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the tweeter, remove the windshield pillar molding. Disconnect the electrical connector and unclip the tweeter from the molding. Installation is the reverse of removal.
