A: To disconnect the negative battery terminal cable, drain the engine coolant, and remove the radiator and engine cooling fan assembly. Then, remove the serpentine drivebelt and raise the front of the vehicle, securing it on jackstands. Remove the engine splash shield and disconnect the coolant inlet and outlet hoses from the underside of the alternator, if applicable. Next, remove the battery terminal nut and disconnect the Battery Cable from the terminal stud. Remove the three upper alternator mounting bolts, noting the ground strap attached to the alternator. Don't forget to reattach this ground strap when installing the alternator. Remove the coolant outlet hose bracket bolt and, from underneath the vehicle, remove the lower alternator mounting bolt. Finally, remove the alternator. To reinstall, follow the reverse order of removal.
