    A: Once in every three months or after every 3000 miles, some light oil or lock lubricant should be applied to the hinges for door, hood trunk, and latch assemblies. Also, a thin coat of grease is recommended to be spread on the door latch strikers to avoid too much wearing out and aid for an easy movement. Sprayed graphite lubricant is also applicable in doors and trunks locks.
  • Q: How to remove and install a trunk lid or liftgate latch assembly and lock cylinder for Chevrolet Cobalt,HHR and Saturn ION?
    A: Open the trunk lid/liftgate. Remove the pushpins securing the trunk lid liner, or remove the liftgate trim panel. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Trunk Latch assembly and the rod to the Trunk Lock Cylinder, if equipped. Remove the bolts securing the latch to the lid or liftgate. Remove the Trunk Latch assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal. Remove the pushpins securing the trunk lid liner. Disconnect the Trunk Lock Cylinder actuating rod. Remove the Trunk Lock Cylinder retaining clip. Remove the Trunk Lock Cylinder from the trunk lid. Installation is the reverse of removal.
